Accessibility Fixer

Improve the accessibility of PDF course materials directly within Canvas.

About this tool

Accessibility Fixer is a web application developed by California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) Academic Technology to help faculty and staff improve the accessibility of PDF course materials.

The application integrates directly with Canvas, allowing users to remediate PDF files and upload accessible versions back to their course with minimal effort.

How to use it

  1. Launch Accessibility Fixer from the Course Navigation menu inside Canvas.
  2. If the PDF you want to remediate is not already available in your Canvas course, upload it to Files first.
  3. Select Load Course Files to display the available PDF files.
  4. Choose the desired PDF and click Fix Accessibility.
  5. Please wait while the document is processed. Once complete, an accessible version of the PDF will be uploaded back to your Canvas course.
